WSX 2013 Final World Ranking
After a great final race in Shanghai, finishing first, Anthony Avella (Fra) won the World Skate Cross Series 2013 season and became 2013 Skate Cross World Champion for the first
time in his career. Before starting the final, he was sure to be the champion already, as his rivals for the victory were all surprisingly kicked out in the quarter finals ; but A.Avella found
the motivation to win the race and could forget his second places in Rome and Moscow WSX main events.
Just behind him, the 2012 title holder, Ilya Sukhenko (Rus) finished on the second step of the podium 2013. It is still a good result for him this season, and he will be back
next season to bring the title back to Russia in 2014!
On the third step of the podium, Kevin Quintin (Fra), world champion 2011, did a very good start this season, with 2 victories in Rome and Lausanne, but because of an injury in
Moscow, he couldn't skate until Shanghai, and was not 100% ready to get the title back.
The full rankings are available here.
For her first full season with the french freeride team, Mathilde Monneron (Fra) did a great performance, winning races after races. She missed only 2 victories this year, in
Rennes, and in Lyon, but she won all the other races, to finish again with a victory in Shanghai, thanks to her perfect technique and speed on the obstacles.
On the second step of the podium, Jessica Billard (Fra) did a full season too, with 2 victories, and a title of Champion of france in Niort. She improved her speed this season,
and she will train more on the obstacle for the next season to be able to catch M.Monneron in 2014.
On the third step of the podium, Maria Sedova (Rus) came to the main races, and even if she didn't make it to the finals this year, her strategy was good, since the result is
there for her ! A great surprise and a good motivation for the next season !

WSX Step #9 ***Shanghai, China
15 countries were represented in the WSX finals in Shanghai ! The men's competition was very tough and everybody wanted to win. In the qualifications, the suspense was high, as the best time has
been beaten several times, and finally, Anthony Avella (Fra) did the fastest run in 22,656 sec.
In the finals, the first big surprises arrived in the quarter finals ; the first one was from Kevin Quintin (Fra) who lost his balance after a contact on the first obstacle, and
then couldn't come back on his opponents. The second one, from Flavien Du Peloux (Fra) who was first and did a mistake loosing his speed in the hoops. Then Ilya Sukhenko
(Rus) finished only 3rd in his quarter final.
With all his main rivals out, A.Avella was ensured to come back to France with the WSX 2013 title, and was with no doubt ready on the final's start line with less pressure. He
controlled the race from the beginning to the end, and passed the finish line in front of CJ Wellsmore (Aus), second, and Jim De Paoli (Sui), third.
Pierre Lelievre (Fra) took the 4th place.

The women's competition was spectacular, with a lot of falls during the finals. Mathilde Monneron (Fra) did the fastest time trials in 25,194 sec, more than 1 second in front of
her closest opponent. This advantage among the others gave her a good margin and she could secure the final victory, and the 2013 WSX world title.
Just behind her, Jessica Billard (Fra) could take advantage of Irina Davydova's mistakes, and despite being faster on the obstacles, the russian couldn't catch
J.Billard, and saw the 2013 champion of france pass the line on the 2nd place just in front of her.
The 4th place has been taken by the chinese Wang Shi Le, the local hero of the day.

WSX Step #8 **Lyon, France
First victory this season for Harry Perna
After getting the 5th place in WSX Lausanne, this time the french Harry Perna didn't let pass his chance in his hometown and dominated the race from the beginning till the end.
On a very challenging track, he could manage to sign the fastest time in the qualification, and to take the best trajectories to pass the finish line in first position.
Flavien Du Peloux (Fra), only 0,001 sec behind him in the time trials, took a good second place in the final, and a newcomer on the WSX Series, Jérémy Mélique
(Fra), took the 3rd place in front of Daniel Ladurner (Aut), 4th.
Anthony Avella (Fra), winner of the consolation final in Lyon, got enough points to pass K.Quintin in the world ranking and to become the new leader of the World
Skate Cross Series, just before Shanghai's final.

Jessica Billard finally made it !
Jessica Billard (Fra) did maybe her worst time trials of the season in Lyon (5th place) but came back for the finals with the right motivation to show that she can dominate a
such difficult track. The 2013 champion of France was in the right trajectory to avoid the crash of her opponents in the first U turn, involving Marjorie Phlippoteau,
Mathilde Monneron and Amandine Condroyer, and took directly a confortable 20m gap, which she controlled perfectly to pass the finish line in first position.
Behind her, the fight was very hard, and the fastest of the time trials, Marjorie Phlippoteau could take the lead over M.Monneron, and keep the second place in
front of the current world n.1, who finished 3rd, in front of A.Condroyer, 4th.

the 2nd place, for his first participation in Moscow, and F.Du Peloux (Fra) took this time the 3rd place, after finishing 2nd in 2012. Thanks to this victory, and to the fail of
the world's leader K.Quintin (13th), I.Sukhenko is up to the 4th place in the ranking, and can still keep his title after the final in Shanghai, in October.

Mathilde Monneron (Fra) almost there
After her victory in Moscow, the world's leader M.Monneron (Fra) has never been so close from the world title, which she should win next month in Shanghai, if she continues to
skate like she did in the past races. Only J.Billard (Fra), 3rd in Moscow can still beat her. M.Monneron had to fight harder this time, as the title holder, I.Davydova
(Rus) was not far from her, at the second place.
